No shirt inversion. Twisted a clockwise spiral around shirt center.
dye method:
An four-sector hourglass pattern (B/W/B/W) was applied to the front. I patterned that back with the same hourglass pattern, but the colors were opposite. I.e., where one side was black, the other remained undyed.
on the design:
SESH 3 (where Peaces 11, 12 and 13 were made) was an experiment to test out some variations in the dye composition. The dye used on this Peace (12) does not include urea—an ingredient used in previous dye batches (usually around 2 tsp/cup water). From what I've read, urea helps the powdered dye to dissolve in water and prevent dye agglomerates. I was curious to see if there would be a noticeable difference.
on the final product:
I did not notice any difference in the look of the final product. I feel like I could omit urea in the dye mixing process, but I'll still continue using it for now. The urea is inexpensive, easy to work with and seems to be almost universally used when mixing fiber reactive dyes for tie-dyeing. Maybe I'll revisit this is the future but for now we'll stay the course.
