No shirt inversion. Twisted a clockwise spiral around shirt center.
dye method:
An four-sector hourglass pattern (B/W/B/W) was applied to the front. I patterned that back with the same hourglass pattern, but the colors were opposite. I.e., where one side was black, the other remained undyed.
on the design:
SESH 3 (where Peaces 11, 12 and 13 were made) was an experiment to test out some variations in the dye composition. The dye used on this Peace (13) is the same as dye used on Peaces 1-9, except it also inclused 0.5 tsp/cup water sodium alginate. The sodium alginate increases the viscosity of the dye. The hypothesis is that it would result in richer blacks with shaper edges as the dye would tend to spread less then if it were thinner.
on the final product:
I was really surprised how little difference this made, especially considering I added more sodium alginate to this dye solution than I've ever done previously (including pre-'''pw''' days). The black spots look virtually identical to spots made with dye without thickening agent. I'm not sure what's going on here. Definitely something I will return to in the future.
